How do I design for a fixed finished size, like a 100 × 100 cm piece?
Short answer
Design the artwork at the full panel size (the full fabric width × 100 cm) and place your finished area inside it.
A tile narrower than the fabric width would be repeated across the width and cut part-way through at the selvedge; designing at full panel width gives you one clean, non-repeating panel per metre and control over what sits either side of your cut.
