Comparison · 2026

Print on demand providers in Europe, compared.

Eight providers that European sellers actually shortlist, set side by side on the criteria that decide an EU business: where the order is produced, the print method, minimum order, production time, certifications, integrations and fees, and white-label delivery. Fabrixa is in the same table, judged by the same rules. Every competitor value is quoted from that provider’s own published pages, retrieved 29 September 2026; where a page does not say, the table says so.

Own-facility producers, partner networks, a fabric printer and a UK cotton specialist — the names that come up in European shortlists.

The comparison

Eight providers, eight criteria.

Read the “production for EU orders” column first: it decides customs, transit and how many business days a parcel needs. Then the print method, because DTG and DTF sit on top of the fabric, sublimation needs polyester, and reactive print bonds into cotton. Quoted phrases are the providers’ own words.

How to read the table

Four questions that decide the choice for an EU seller.

01 · Where is it made?

Inside the EU, or shipped in

An order produced inside the EU single market travels by ground carrier and meets no customs border. A UK- or US-produced order crosses one: import clearance, possible duties and VAT at the door, and days in transit. Several providers publish DDP or duties-paid options for that reason; inside the EU the question does not arise. Partner networks route by destination, so ask which partner actually prints your product.

02 · Which method?

On the fabric, or in it

DTG and DTF put ink or a film on the surface of a finished blank; sublimation fuses dye into polyester and cannot bond to cotton. Reactive printing dyes the cotton or linen itself before the product is cut and sewn, which is what makes all-over print on natural fibre possible and keeps the hand of the cloth. Most providers in the table print on blanks; Fabrixa and Contrado print the fabric.

03 · What does it certify?

The product, or the ink

“OEKO-TEX” can refer to the finished textile (Standard 100), to the ink or thread (Eco Passport) or to the facility. GOTS covers the organic fibre and the whole processing chain. The table records only what each provider states on its own pages; a certificate on the ink says nothing about the garment it lands on.

04 · What does it cost to run?

Free plan, subscription, or per unit

Most providers charge nothing to open an account and earn on the unit price; some add a paid plan that lowers product prices in exchange for a monthly fee. Compare the unit price at your real monthly volume rather than the plan name, and check whether shipping is itemised or bundled. Fabrixa prices per unit in volume tiers, with no subscription and no setup fee.

Where Fabrixa sits

Narrower than a marketplace, deeper on textiles.

Fabrixa does not sell mugs, phone cases or posters, and it is not a network of 140 print shops. It is a reactive textile platform with three EU hubs, and the honest reading of the table is that it wins on a specific set of jobs and loses on others.

Choose Fabrixa when

Cotton, all-over, EU

All-over print on organic cotton apparel, printed bedding, cushions, curtains and table linens, or fabric by the metre on seven cotton bases — made in Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands from one piece, OEKO-TEX Standard 100 on the product and GOTS-certified organic cotton on the apparel and the apparel-weight fabric bases, white-label under your brand, with no subscription and no customs inside the EU.

Choose a marketplace when

Breadth beats depth

You need mugs, posters, phone cases and a T-shirt in the same catalogue, or a print partner in a specific non-EU country. Printify, Gelato and Printful publish far larger catalogues; the trade-off is a surface print on a blank and, in a network, a partner you do not choose.

Choose a fabric printer when

You only need cloth

Spoonflower and Contrado are fabric printers first. For EU sellers the deciding line is the customs border: both produce outside the EU single market. Fabrixa prints fabric by the metre in Portugal and Spain and dispatches on rolls in 5 to 7 business days, inside the market.

Methodology & sources

How this table was built.

01 · Their pages, their words

Official pages only

Every competitor value was read on that provider’s own help centre, production, pricing, sustainability or integration page on 29 September 2026. Blog posts, review sites and third-party rankings were not used. Where two official pages disagreed (Gelato lists 140+ hubs in one place and 250+ in another) the table uses the help-centre figure. Where a page does not state something, the table says “not stated on site” rather than guessing.

02 · Fabrixa figures

Live product data

Fabrixa values come from the live catalog product pages (dispatch windows per product), the pricing page (tiers, wallet, no subscription) and the certifications page. They are held to the same test as everyone else: if it is not published on a page you can open, it is not in the table. Corrections from any provider are welcome through the contact page and are applied with a new retrieval date.

FAQ

Print on demand in Europe, answered

Which print on demand providers produce in Europe?

Of the eight providers in the table, Fabrixa produces in Portugal, Spain and the Netherlands; Printful runs its own facilities in Latvia and Spain; Spreadshirt has its own sites in Poland and Czechia; Prodigi has an in-house facility in the Netherlands; Printify and Gelato route orders to partner print shops in EU countries. Contrado produces in the United Kingdom, outside the EU customs union; Teemill is UK-based and names factories in Europe and the US without naming an EU site; Spoonflower states production in the United States. Each statement comes from the provider's own pages, retrieved 29 September 2026.

Which print on demand provider is best for an EU business?

It depends on what you sell. For all-over print on organic cotton, printed home textiles or fabric by the metre made inside the EU, Fabrixa is built for exactly that at MOQ 1. For a broad catalogue with mugs, posters and phone cases, a marketplace such as Printify, Gelato or Printful offers far more products, printed on blanks by DTG, DTF or sublimation. For fabric only, Spoonflower and Contrado are specialists, but both produce outside the EU single market. The table on this page puts the criteria side by side so you can decide on your own products.

Do EU customers pay customs duties on print on demand orders?

Only when the order crosses a customs border. An order produced and shipped inside the EU single market, as Fabrixa's are, meets no import clearance, duties or VAT at the door. Orders produced in the United Kingdom or the United States are imports into the EU: some providers offer duties-paid delivery for that reason, others state that the customer is responsible for customs fees. Check the provider's own customs page for the destination you sell to.

Which print on demand providers offer fabric by the metre?

In this comparison three do: Fabrixa (seven cotton bases, reactive-printed in Portugal and Spain, from one metre, shipped on rolls in 5 to 7 business days), Contrado (printed in the United Kingdom) and Spoonflower (printed in the United States). Printful, Printify, Gelato, Spreadshirt, Prodigi and Teemill print finished products only, according to their catalogues.

What is the difference between DTG, DTF, sublimation and reactive printing?

DTG sprays water-based ink onto a finished garment; DTF prints the design on a film that is heat-pressed onto the garment as a thin layer; sublimation turns dye into gas that fuses into polyester, so it cannot bond to cotton. Reactive printing dyes the cotton or linen fabric itself before the product is cut and sewn: the colour bonds into the fibre, the print can cover the whole product and the fabric keeps its hand. Most providers in the table print on blanks with DTG or DTF; Fabrixa prints the fabric.

Test it with one piece

Judge the print, not the table.

Order a single garment, cushion or metre of fabric, wash it, and compare it with what you use today — produced in Portugal, Spain or the Netherlands and shipped white-label under your brand, from MOQ 1.
