How On-Demand Order Fulfilment Works, Click to Doorstep

On-demand fulfilment is a way of fulfilling orders in which nothing is printed, packed or shipped until a customer has paid. The order travels from your store to production, is made to order, and is dispatched under your brand, so you never hold stock. With Fabrixa there is no minimum order (MOQ 1), no setup fee and no contract.

Below: the six steps an order goes through, who does what at each one, and what to check before you launch.

The six steps from click to doorstep

Every on-demand order follows the same path, whether it is your first sale or your thousandth. The table shows each stage and who handles it.

Krok What happens Who handles it
1. Order placed A customer checks out on your store Your store
2. Order received The order reaches Fabrixa through your Shopify or WooCommerce connection, the API or Fabrixa Studio Automatic
3. Artwork prepared Fabrixa creates the correct print files from the artwork you sent (PDF, TIFF, JPG or PNG) Fabrixa
4. Printed to order The product is made in Portugal, Spain or the Netherlands, depending on the fabric Fabrixa and our Portuguese fabric and print partner
5. Packed white-label The parcel is packed with your branding and your return address Fabrixa
6. Dispatched and delivered The parcel ships to your customer, with order status visible in your dashboard Fabrixa

Step 1 and 2: how orders reach production

You connect a store once, and paid orders flow into production without anyone copying details into emails or spreadsheets. Shopify and WooCommerce are the two standard store connections, and a custom API is available for bespoke builds. How the connection works: podłączenie Shopify lub WooCommerce do środowiska produkcyjnego w UE.

If shoppers personalise products themselves, Fabrixa Studio is an embeddable customiser that runs on your storefront as an iframe. The saved design is attached to the order, so a custom product follows the same path as any other.

Step 3 and 4: from artwork to printed product

You send your artwork as a PDF, TIFF, JPG or PNG. You do not need to prepare production files: Fabrixa creates the correct print files for the product and fabric base.

Production is split by technology. Reactive printing on cotton and linen is done in Portugal and Spain, and sublimation on polyester in the Netherlands. Reactive dye bonds with the fibre, so the colour becomes part of the fabric rather than a surface layer. Apparel made in Portugal typically takes roughly 6 to 9 business days to produce.

Step 5 and 6: white-label dispatch

White-label dispatch is standard. Parcels leave with your branding and your return address, and end customers never see Fabrixa or who printed the order. Shipping options and delivery details: Fabrixa shipping.

Because production is in Europe, the supply chain is short compared with long-haul freight. Why that matters for lead times and risk: on-demand and the fashion supply chain.

Where you stay in control

On-demand does not mean hands-off. One dashboard shows your sales channels, designs, production and dispatch, so you can follow each order and answer customer questions without chasing anyone. If you want tighter automation, the Integration API (v2) lets your own systems create and track orders, with webhooks for order.created oraz order.updated.

On-demand fulfilment vs holding stock

  • Upfront cost: on demand, you pay per order. With stock, you fund a bulk run before you know what sells.
  • Unsold inventory: on demand, none. With stock, leftovers become write-offs.
  • Range size: on demand, you can offer many designs without carrying each one. With stock, every extra design needs its own run.
  • Speed: stock ships fast once it exists. On demand adds a production window, so state realistic delivery times on your store.

Checklist before you go live

  • Store connected and a test order placed with a single piece (MOQ 1).
  • Artwork sent in PDF, TIFF, JPG or PNG for every product.
  • Pricing and shipping costs checked against your margin.
  • Delivery time shown to customers on product pages.
  • White-label return address confirmed in your dashboard.
